Being able to see which projects are missing follow-ups

We have started using Projects, but we are doubtful about one thing: how can we easily keep up with projects where we haven't had any interaction with the client in the last X days.
We are planning to create around 200-300 project. The new filter by owner is a big start in the follow up department. But now we are not sure how to keep up and how many projects are running behind.
Sometime the project owner doesn't adds the new tasks the project will need to be done, and he already marked as completed the tasks created by the template. How can we see if they haven't sent any emails or done any tasks in the last X days? Is this a planned feature.
