Jumping into this discussion as we're also very interested in the idea of Document triggers in Pipedrive. My role involves bridging between the business development and operations teams, particularly for processes triggered by document signatures (e.g., contracts).
Our Use Case:
When a contract is officially signed, it acts as a clear signal for us to "go for the next steps." This event triggers a lot of automation opportunities, such as:
- Notifying operational teams to kickstart onboarding or service delivery.
- Streamlining processes for finance teams, such as preparing billing or ensuring compliance documentation.
Ideal Setup:
We’d love to see a webhook triggered by the signing event, which could notify relevant teams and automatically handle critical tasks like document processing or file uploads. This would greatly reduce manual effort and ensure smooth transitions between teams.
Could Document triggers make their way into the roadmap in the near future?

Hi @CBK, there is no a document trigger that accomplishes what you’re looking for at the moment. This is good feedback, I've split your post into its own feature request so it reaches our product team.
Looking at the thread, I noticed that you’re using Make.com. With this tool, we can achieve a similar outcome. Whenever a document is signed, an email is sent to the requester of the document. The subject line of the email, such as 'Everyone has signed the document,' can be used as a trigger in Make.com.
Using this trigger, you can configure actions such as sending an email or booking an activity to continue the process as desired.

Hi @Manuel Oliveira can you merge posts? All of these are basically asking for the same thing - Smart Doc based automations, particularly trigger on signature. Some requests going as far back as 2021.

Hi @CoeffSol thank you for that. I will mark these pages for moderation and they will be merged very soon if the feature request is the same.

We have been asking for this for over 4 years and nothing.
We are getting all this fancy AI garbage that no one needs instead of actual useful time saving features.
IMO in this context AI nothing but marketing ploy. The core customer here is small teams that want a user friendly simple CRM which is what Pipedrive was originally designed to be.0 -
This really is a must and it's amazing it isn't completed after all these years. Smart docs as a whole feels like a half baked solution that they just never devoted any further time to - they got to a point they can say they have it, up-charge for it, and moved on. Like, why are signature fields not apart of the template process? Why do you have to manually place the signature fields for every document every time one is sent. It really doesn't make sense.
At this point the lack of triggers surrounding smart docs and half baked templates has forced us to move on from Pipedrive into another solution. Execution of a contract is such a critical moment for all the departments within an organization. There are so many actions between warehouse, accounting, QC, project management, etc that must be executed in perfect timing to keep a client happy and married to your business.

I agree that they just get the basic functionality there and move on. I'm sure they will do that with AI also just to advertise "AI First".
Lots of things that are half baked they just give up on. Google Drive Integration, Projects, Smartdocs, Custom Fields and so on.0
