Emailing from Leads Tab

I would like to be able to email a lead with a template inside the leads tab. Otherwise, I will be turning all leads to deals just so I can log the communication with them while deciding if they're really a deal?

    @Inês Batata , it seems that email is possible by clicking on the email address, but the email is not tracked in the history of the lead or in the history of the deal once it has been created from the lead. Just tracking this history on the lead and converted deal would improve things a lot, so sales people can see the communication history.
