Request: Automate Linking of Lead/Deal field "Source Channel" from custom field "Contact Source"




Hi Pipedrive Community,
I would like to suggest a feature to improve our workflow. Currently, we can't automate setting the "Source Channel" of a Lead or Deal from a Person's custom field. (we created one called "Contact Source"). This would save a lot of manual work and improve efficiency.
Customer support confirmed this isn't possible yet because the "Source Channel" is a newer field of the entities Lead/Deal. They suggested creating a custom text field for Lead/Deals, but it would be much better if we could directly link the official "Source Channel" through automation. Currently Source channel is not available in the Automation set of actions (see image attached).
I believe many users would benefit from this feature, so I'm posting here to give it more visibility. Thanks for considering this improvement!

I believe having the source channel in automations is being planned for a later stage, depending on the performance and adoption of the new "source channel" fields. I will mark your post as feedback so our product team can take note, and other users can comment and upvote.1 -

Similar question… We have just set up a lead form from our website and want to be able to trace leads in Pipedrive. We have an automated process to convert webform contacts to leads, but we are unsure how to make them reportable against leads from other channels. Any help appreciated : )

+1 here, feels weird that automating field updates for native fields is not possible! We also use custom source field as a workaround
