Upgrades to Pipedrive's inbox

Hi guys,

One of our clients is experiencing difficulties with Pipedrive's email client.

Their sales team used to work with Apple's email client, and it has features that are missing and hinder their work.

We narrowed it down to two features:

  1. Search - in Pipedrive's email client, search only finds text in the email's subject line and not the body of the email
  2. Threads - inside deals, emails are spread out and not grouped as threads, making it difficult to follow long correspondences

Are you aware of these gaps?

Is modifying them in some way on the roadmap for the email client?

Hi @David Zisner , thank you for your feedback! We're sorry to hear these situations are causing inconvenience.

It's true that searching in emails only contemplates the email subject and not the content. I'm going to reach out to the team to know if it's in our plans to change this and will get back to you as soon as I hear from them, but in any case I will send your suggestion their way for consideration.

However, emails that belong to the same conversation should be threaded together according to these rules: How are emails threaded in Pipedrive?

If this is not what's happening in your client's account, please have them reach out to our Support team so they can help with any necessary troubleshooting.

Those are valid points by David.  Ideally we would like to spend all our time in Pipedrive Mail instead of switching back and forth depending on what we need to do.  Also why is it that why archiving in Gsuite/Gmail does not archive in Pipedrive? Is the current ongoing integration with Mailigen add all those features into Pipedrive mail.

@David Zisner I've heard back from the team and unfortunately currently it's not in our plans to add the possibility to include email body in search results.

    Hi @MY Admin !

We absolutely understand that you'd prefer to do all your work in a single tool, it makes perfect sense, and we are aware of some of the limitations of our email feature compared to an email-based tool like Gmail or Outlook. Have you tried our Pipedrive Gmail add-on?

Our integration with Mailigen will not affect the way email syncing works in Pipedrive, as those are two autonomous features.

Regarding archiving, I asked our team and the reason for this is a technical one: the short explanation is that "archiving" an email does not mean the same thing in all email providers - what happens to that email "behind the scenes" is different in each of them.

The long, more technical explanation: In Gmail if you archive the thread, it means removing the "inbox" label from the thread. In Gmail there isn’t a place called "archive". You can see archived messages under specific label or under "All mail". In Pipedrive when we sync in a thread, it always ends up in your Pipedrive  “Inbox”. In other providers, archiving means moving messages in a thread that are not in the "Trash" or "Sent" folder. An "Archive" folder sometimes does not exist, so there is no folder in the provider that can be mapped to Pipedrive's "Archive" folder.

    Hello Ines,

Thank you for the detailed explanation and yes the archiving and search are the power features in Gmail.   Yes, I have the Gmail add on and it helps.

    Have a great day.
