Email BCC's counting as activities vs emails

would like the ability to select emails as activities vs just emails....

I simply want my emails sent and received to automatically count as activities for a deal. I want them to affect the "last activity date" field.

This is in our backlog of ideas but no near term plans, unfortunately. The hardest job is to prioritise all ideas and suggestions from all our customers and unfortunately this one hasn't made the cut yet. It would be great if it worked this way. Superiors check salesman activity. If I send e-mail, I would like it to count as my activity automatically. This would be a very helpful feature.
