Automating the simple things



Hey Pipedrivers, Here’s a dirty little secret: Everyone is saving time automating simple tasks. 🤫

Sometimes it’s the smallest automations that make the biggest impact. One of my favorite simple automations that can save a lot of manual effort and avoid potential errors is to automate the task of changing ownership of Pipedrive items when a deal is reassigned.
Why does this matter? 🤔
Because visibility is everything in a sales pipeline. When a deal changes hands, the new owner needs immediate access to the full picture — including the linked person and organization. Without that, critical context gets lost, follow-ups stall, and deals slip through the cracks.
With a simple automation, you can make sure the ownership of the deal, person, and organization stays aligned — no manual clicks, no confusion, no missed opportunities.
Steps on how to accomplish this
- Create an automation with the trigger event “Deal updated”
- Create an instant condition “Deal owner has changed”.
- Create an action step to update the owner of the person contact linked to the deal to the deal owner.
- Create an action step to update the owner of the organization contact linked to the deal to the deal owner.
- Activate the automation and save! ✅
