Avoid Duplicates with your unique key

To avoid duplicates. Give the possibility of importing databases on the basis of a unique key of our choice, not only on the basis of the company name or the contact name. Example, each company in Belgium has a unique 9-digit company number

You can export the data, then do the de-dupe in excel, and then re-upload clean data [if you have the 9 digit company number]

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
As we have 115.000 companies in our db, this doesn't seem feasible ...
Any other proposals?

You won't be able to make a change to the matching rules in Pipedrive, so you need to think about how to do it outside of Pipedrive.

Hi @Vincent Cuypers , thank you for your input! I've sent your suggestion internally to be considered for future developments.
When you're updating data in Pipedrive using a spreadsheet there is already a unique field (the ID) you should use to avoid creating duplicates, see here how: How can I update my Pipedrive data with a spreadsheet?
In the meantime, learn more about how Pipedrive detects duplicates here. If you'd like this default rule to be changed for your company, please have an Admin user reach out to our Support team and tell them what you want the new duplicate detection rule to be.
We'd also like to ask you to please avoid using the "What's New" tag in your posts, as that's meant to be used only for posts made by Pipedrive here in the Community. I've taken the liberty of removing that tag from your post. Thank you!

Hi Ines,
You get a colum of the ID from pipedrive is only if you already made an export from Pipedrive of you data :-)

Yes, you need to first export your data from Pipedrive with the ID column visible in order to update using that same spreadsheet and ID. 😉
In any case, the ID columns can always be made visible inside Pipedrive, all you have to do is select them from the List View.
