Hidden Fields in Web Forms to Capture Pre-defined Data

- Thanks for the shout out! I really appreciate your attention on this.
- At it's core, what we really need is a place to install 3rd party tracking so say something like Analytics For Pipedrive ( A tool which will only work if there is a field to install it on forms ) could potentially work. Essentially a field for tracking. I'm not sure how difficult it is to install a hidden field for all forms to track data, but that's essentially the least, very least that we need here. Above that… well sky's the limit. If anyone thinks I'm missing something here please feel free to chime in, ok
- Hidden Fields for Campaign Tracking Capture UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign) automatically for accurate lead source tracking.
- Lead Source Identification
- Include a hidden field to capture the specific lead source (e.g., Facebook, Google Ads) based on the form's origin.
- Campaign ID Storage
- Enable hidden fields to store Campaign IDs from ad platforms to tie leads to specific campaigns.
- URL-Based Parameter Auto-Population
- Allow hidden fields to auto-populate with parameters from the URL (e.g., UTM codes, query strings).
- Dynamic Data Capture Without URL Dependence
- Provide options for capturing tracking data independently of URL parameters for broader flexibility.
- Lead Interaction Timestamp
- Include a hidden field to automatically record the timestamp of lead interaction to track recency.
- Customizable Prefixes for Lead Titles
- Allow users to set a custom prefix on lead titles based on the source or form, helping track origin visually.
- Integration with Analytics and Ad Platforms
- Facilitate data capture directly from Google Analytics, Facebook, and other platforms to support retargeting and detailed campaign analysis.
- Enhanced Data Security and Privacy Controls
- Ensure that hidden fields meet data protection standards, especially when capturing sensitive tracking data.
- Additional ideas that you could implement to really make it rock!
- Visitor Device and Browser Information
- Capture the visitor’s device type (desktop, mobile, tablet) and browser in hidden fields to optimize targeting and user experience insights.
- Geolocation Data Collection
- Store IP-based location data (city, state, country) for localized marketing campaigns and insights on lead distribution.
- Referring URL and Page Path
- Track the referring URL or previous page path to understand where leads were before reaching your form, offering insights into content and SEO performance.
- First and Last Touch Attribution
- Automate hidden fields to capture both the first and last points of contact, giving a full picture of the lead’s journey for better campaign attribution.
- Session Duration and Page Visit Count
- Record how long a visitor stayed on the site and how many pages they visited before submitting the form, helping identify high-intent leads.
- Automated Source Tagging
- Set an automation to tag leads based on hidden field data (e.g., "Google Ads Lead," "Facebook Organic Lead") so sales teams can prioritize based on lead source.
- Lead Score Calculation Automation
- Automate lead scoring using captured data such as source, page visit count, and session duration to identify high-priority leads immediately.
- Conversion Funnel Stage Tracking
- Create hidden fields for tracking the funnel stage (e.g., Awareness, Consideration, Decision) and automate stage updates based on engagement level.
- Retargeting List Segmentation
- Automatically add leads to retargeting lists based on hidden field criteria (e.g., specific campaign IDs or landing pages) for custom ad audiences.
- Campaign Performance Feedback Loop
- Automate email or dashboard reports summarizing the effectiveness of each hidden-field-enabled campaign (e.g., form submissions by source, conversion rates by campaign).
- Automatic Data Sync with CRM Segments
- Automatically sync hidden fields with CRM segments for real-time insights into lead demographics and behavior, supporting personalization in sales and marketing.
- Automated GDPR and Compliance Check
- Build an automation to check for compliance with privacy regulations, automatically alerting if a data field could conflict with GDPR, CCPA, etc.
- Real-Time Lead Assignment Based on Hidden Fields
- Instantly assign leads to sales reps based on hidden field data like campaign source, location, or lead score for faster follow-up.
- Lead Enrichment via Third-Party APIs
- Use hidden fields to auto-fill enriched data (like company details from LinkedIn or Clearbit) based on the lead’s email or domain.
- Auto-Trigger Follow-Up Sequences
- Trigger specific follow-up sequences based on hidden field data (e.g., follow-up with Google Ads leads differently than Facebook organic leads).
- A/B Testing of Campaigns with Automated Reporting
- Use hidden fields to tag leads by A/B test variants, then set up automatic reporting on the performance of each variant for more effective campaign optimization.

I swear this company is a JOKE! 👎

@Frank Filippelli They really don’t give one shit about their customers and they make it blatantly obvious. I’ve never seen anything like it from an “active” business.

@wonders as usual, agreed!

Guys, they said they were looking into this. So, I'm sure someone is on it, that being said. Breaking news…. The company will be moving away from pipedrive in the coming months. This factored into our discussion as major pain point. I won't say who we are moving to out or respect to the Pipedrive team. However tracking data is a serious issue, and needs to be addressed, tracking where and how marketing is getting its leads from is a must have. I'm not sure if I will be posting again after this. It's been a long ride with pipedrive and this community has my sincere thanks for their love, support, and honesty. I deeply appreciate everyone who fights the good fight, and strives to be the best version of themselves especially in the face of adversity.
Love Errol,
may your best be better,
and your better be best.

Hi everyone
Just wanted to give an update on this - it was added to our engineering backlog now and hopefully you should have this functionality available around January timeframe. Our initial approach will be to have it either as a separate custom field that gets created and holds this info (like we already do for Chatbots, see below) or as an additional feature part of the Source fields.
After this you could just use standard filtering approach to look for example for "Tracking field + contains + [parameter that you're interested in]".
I'll keep you posted once we have it in a testable state so you could try it out before we roll this out globally.
Really sorry to see you go @Errol Newson, thank you again for all the insightful input!
