REVENUE SUBSCRIPTION - Request to change start and end dates

Pipedrive does not allow users to change start and end dates of revenue subscription (recurring revenue) for deals that are in the pipeline.  Pipedrive support have advised only option is to delete and create a new deal, which seems a massive oversight from product perspective.   Users should be able to change start and end date for all pipeline deals with revenue subscription, if not makes the subscription revenue feature redundant, and also impacts forecasting feature and insights reporting.

Hey, Marcus!  Vladimir from Pipedrive management is here.

First of all thank you very much for the feedback - it has been passed to the product manager!

The issue with changing the recurring payment start/end date lies in the fact that reports on recurring revenue would have to adjust to that accordingly and display correct data even if a payment start/last day was changed several times.

For now - you do not have  to delete a whole deal to change subscription - you can delete a subscription itself (will delete information on completed payments for that deal, however): https://sharing.pipedrive.com/8XSYY6

But, if you have collected any payments already, there is indeed, a limitation - you can cancel the subscription and the information on collected payments will remain (for reporting purposes) - but, to start a new subscription you would need to fully delete the old one or start a new deal.

Thank you for the feedback again,

    Kind regards,

    Vladimir

    Hi Vladimir,

we have exactly the same problem. Our deals do change here an there especially for renewals or during Covid Times...So, as I understood right, there is no way of adding a new subscription with new values and keep the old one for reporting puprose? What are you plans and timeframes around it?

    Thanks

    Betty

Hi Vladimir, thought it might help to clarify and avoid any confusion on my earlier feedback.

SUBSCRIPTIONS DEALS NOT YET WON (still in leads or deals phase)

I am referring to leads and deals, that are NOT WON nor where payment is received, as they are still in the pipeline.  Dates for these change all the time, because they are still being worked through the sales pipeline, and customers start dates or decision dates change as they are being worked through the funnel.  Can you please escalate and clarify this with the product manager so can be fixed?

    SUBSCRIPTION DEALS WON

Once the deals are marked as "WON" and/or payment is received, then yes presume this might complicate things on how to retrospectively change, but I'm sure HubSpot and Salesforce have worked that out so should be straight forward for Pipedrive to replicate same approach :)

Thank you for the replies and the patience!

    @Marcus

    1. "Dates for these change all the time, because they are still being worked through the sales pipeline, and customers start dates or decision dates change as they are being worked through the funnel." -  as far as I understand you are referring to deals that do not have a confirmation from your customers. Can I suggest not starting a subscription until you agree with the customer on payment and the day of it. And, before that time - you can fill in f.e. a deal value with a monthly amount (just so that by deal value you can tell right away what is the planned agreed subscription price.  Here: https://sharing.pipedrive.com/sI4SeV  And once the user starts paying - you can start a subscription. - that way the statistics on the recurring revenue will be correct.
    2. Please also refer to the difference between "delete" and cancel the subscription features that I talked in the previous reply.
    3. I have taken a feedback and passed it over to the product manager
    4. @Bettina Brown Thank you for the comment. It does seem like we should be able to find a way for you "subscription" feature with the current implementation, or to find a workaround, but please reach out to support vie [email protected] or in-app chat in Pipedrive.

I expect this reviewed before the revenue forecast is introduced in Insights reports.

But if anything is still not clear - please do reach out to [email protected] or via in-app chat in Pipedrive and our reps will try suggest a way to work with the current implementation.

    Thank you for understanding again,

    Kind regards,

    Vladimir

I agree. We constantly have customers that start/stop monthly subscriptions all the time.
