Emails should convert to leads before deals, no?

It seems super counterintuitive that emails coming into my linked inbox, can convert to contacts and I can add deals for, but I can't switch them to leads first...

I'm using Pipedrive to track emails, deals, contacts...sales emails and sequences I haven't sorted out yet, but when someone inwquires about a prodict, I want to turn them into a lead.   That lead may fall through and require following up later on (next month etc) but maybe they convert into a deal...

Right now, it's the other way around.

That doesn’t help.  It’s still an extra step.

the first step is contact, then lead, then deal.

Why would I want to create a deal...then backtrack and create a lead...then go back to make it a deal again?  That’s super weird.

Thank you for your feedback @Andrew Hilson , we appreciate it!

Just to clarify before going forward: emails don't get converted to deals, they get linked to them. Both continue to exist as independent entities in Pipedrive, but are now connected. 😉

At the moment the Leads feature is still in beta, meaning that we're still developing a lot of the abilities we want it to have and are rolling them out gradually. One of them is the way Leads connect with emailing; right now you can send an email to the email address attached to a Lead but there's no way to link them (yet...). That's one of the things we're working on and that we know will make a huge difference to our users.

That being said, I've made sure our team sees your feedback so they can take it into consideration for future developments. Unfortunately with many customers and requests and with limited development resources we need to prioritise and make choices what to deliver first.

Speaking of which, here are some pro tips to stay on top of things:

+1 for the ability to link emails to leads

(which then carry over once the lead becomes a deal)
