Checking for potential duplicates when importing lists
Especially in acquisition campaigns it happens that we use the import data feature to add new person, organization, deal, activity for hundreds of records all at once.
The lists we import sometimes include organizations we are already in touch with and that we don't want to push into our acquisition process but unfortunately their name is not written exactly as we saved it in Pipedrive. Therefore this records pass the duplicates check run during the import data process as we don't have other fields to help this check be more effective.
The result is that we have to go though a long process of matching our current contacts in Pipedrive with every new list we want to import. This needs to be done outside Pipedrive using for example Excel or Numbers.
It would be amazing if Pipedrive could run a similarity check on the database as an intermidiate step while importing data.

Pipedrive currently cannot do this while running the upload, but assists in the process AFTER the upload [and helping identify & merge duplicates]

By default the duplication rules for organizations is name & address however, if you contact our support they can also change these rules for you. You could for example set up that in your account duplicates get only checked on address or on something you've entered in a custom field.
Is there a field from your spreadsheet you know for sure matches those in Pipedrive? If so you can ask our support to customize the rules for your specific account in Pipedrive.

I've contacted the support, but nothing could be done.
As I said, we don't have any field that could match 100%.
We need something that checks for potential duplicate companies looking for similar names or organizations containing part of the words/characters. With a reasonable range of error of course so then we could manually remove the real duplicates from the import.

Thanks @Tatiana Bazzi I've passed on the feedback. Unfortunately right now it would only work to do it manually or perhaps Dedupely can help with this. @Clinton Skakun is this part of your service?

Please look at enhancing the Merge Duplicates page with the ability to multi-select people or merge ALL of the contacts. Too time consuming to individually merge people when it's caused by an import of contacts.
