Multiple Organizations / Deal Participants.

A major inconvenience that may cause more problems  than help is changing the organization in the new deal dialogue automatically.

Three Organizations:

XYZ  Corp. (Main/Corporate/Management company) - Holds person record responsible for sites below, John Smith.

XYZ Corp. (site name 1)

XYZ Corp. site name 2)

If I go to Organization:  'XYZ Corp (site name 2)' and enter a new deal and type in John Smith in the new deal dialogue and choose him it changes the organization name associated with the deal  automatically. That's Odd given that I started at the organization record.

But at the same time I can have a deal under XYZ Corp. (Site name 2) and have John Smith as a participant to that deal no problem while he remains a person record in: 'XYZ  Corp. (Main/Corporate/Management company)'

Why not just NOT overwrite the organization and instead just add John Smith as a participant in the new deal dialogue?

Is this a major engineering issue?

    Hi @Brad Krause

I'm so sorry I've read this a few times, maybe because it's Sunday, but I'm not a 100% following you. Would you have a moment to record a video to show the behaviour? I'd love to be able to pass this on to the team, and in case this is a bug/oversight pass this on asap.

Hi @Brad Krause I finally got around watching this, thanks for sharing. It makes a lot of sense now. Passing it on to our team to see how we can make this more easy to use.

For now what happens is that in the system the person is leading and that's why the org also changes. I understand that's not something we want to happen in this situation you describe. Hopefully the team can take a look at one point to improve this.

For now it's easiest to make the deal first without the person and then on the deal page itself add the person, this won't edit the org... a little workaround but should work. For this you'd need to disable that a contact person is required on the deal though otherwise you can't create it..
