Automated Notification

I want to create an automated notification, if deals stays in one particular stage for more than a certain time (let's say 1 week). How can i do that ? I tried with workflow automation but could not find a solution. Can you guys help me out ?

    Right off the top of my head I'm thinking if you set the deal rotting time to match the 1 week then just create the automation off the deal has changed, deal is rotting.

    Hi Brad,

    Thanks for suggestion. I actually did rotting for now. but problem with rotting is that if there is any activity like comment, note etc. then the rotting will start again. I want to see if any deal is over a week in a stage irrespective of notes, activity done.
