Would it be productive to list the the deals in the pipeline by expected close date?
The Sales Forecast view provides some kind of workaround for this.
I prefer the list depending on the due date to the acitvities - as it is... Sometimes there is nothing left to do even if the close date is coming very soon. And sometimes I have to do essential things in a long term deal. From my perspective, the filter functionality is sufficiant ("show me all deal with an expected close date next week").
