Reset day count for deal stage option

Is it possible to reset a day count for a deal stage?  We have a number of deals that will revert back to an earlier status for a variety of reasons but the count doesn't change which then causes confusion and double handling when we review the deals.

Could there be a right click option or something in settings? Maybe a permissions setting?
