Continuous timeline possible?

Is there a way to use the timeline in a different way? We would love to see a continuous timeline to which you can ad your latest updates including a timestamp. Now you have to create an activity, complete an activity and create another activity. Is there a possibility as I described of is this maybe interesting as a new feature?

Hello Erwin, that sounds interesting. Could you tell me please a use case? How this would be helpful? Thanks!

Well, if I have an activity scheduled for today to call a lead, first thing I do is open the activity and call the lead. Within the activity there is a yellow field in which I can make notes about the conversation I have with my lead. When the lead asks me to cal back within 2 days, normally I have to close this activity and create a new activity to call this lead back on thursday. I can find my notes back below in the timeline. What we would like to see is that when you open the activity and you want to make notes in the yellow field, there is a button you can click which creates a time stamp in the yellow field. For instants: 14 april 13:55 hrs (and the name of the user) and than you can make a note. If you finish your call or other activity, you just change the date of the activity into the new date. So if the lead asks me to call back tomorrow I change the date of activity in 15 april. When I call him back at 15 april,  I open the activity and see the note I made yesterday with the time stamp of yesterday. To ad a new note I simply click again on the button and an new time stamp is being added to the note. This time its 15 april 10:25 hrs (and the name of the user) and I add my notes of this conversation. When I decide to complete this activity, than it wil appear on the timeline as a completed activity with al the notes and timestamps so I can see the notes but also that the notes are made on different days.

Another possibility is that I make a note in the yellow field (with time stamp) but there is an extra button which says 'add to timeline'. So I don't have to complete the activity, but just change the date of the activity and I can see my earlier note from that activity (with time stamp) in the timeline.

This helps us to make less activities. This will helps when a coworker has to take over and needs to read the history in the timeline. He /she does not have to open so many activities.

Is this clear to you or do I need to give more explanation?

Thank you for the through reply, this really helps. I'll check with the team and see what we could do. At the moment I could only suggest to add notes directly in the deal or contact and refer there to a certain activity. Thus the note will have time stamp and will appear in the timeline.
We are currently working on a @mention functionality, that will help you even more to hand over sales to your team.
