How can i change subscription start date?

I want to changer to subscription start date on an existing open deal (Not won or lost).

Once I have defined Revenue as Subscription, i can no longer change the start date. I can only make a change to recurring amount, effective on a specific date. But this does not make sense, as the deal is not even closed yet, so subscription has not started at all.

I can delete the subscription and create it again but am i not allowed to change the expected start date on a subscription that have not even started (Won) yet. 

Alos is there any documentation on Subscription. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
