Assigning Tasks in Bulk

I have 397 People that need an activity (make a call). Is there a way to assign tasks in bulk to to these selected group of People?

I don't see where you can assign a call or task or activity in that list view, darn it. I just imported 180 contacts and need to assign a task on each - same task to the same person, but do I really have to go into each one to assign a task?
