How does SmartDocs deal with line breaks in variables? Are they altogether ignored?

Hey community, we are starting to use SmartDocs, and using the variable [Produkt Additional Information (product custom)] among others. We want to fill this Variable with a bunch of bullet points. Unfortunately, these line breaks are gobbeld up by the SmartDocs magic - is that true? Does anyone work with line breaks in variables? What can we do?
