Stacked bar chart showing total deal value over time

It would be helpful to have a report that shows deal value to # of deals, stacked by stage, on a historical basis - either by week or month. This would allow the user to look at the pipeline health on a week over week or month over month basis. Currently I can only look at the current snapshot but not historical comparison.
Ive used this in other CRMs and was instructed to export data and use excel for this.
Doesnt seem like a delighful solution - devs?
