Lead funnels are used by both sales and marketing teams to attribute customer intent. These teams work closely together but often execute lead-building in different ways.

A lead generation funnel focuses specifically on the marketing portion of the overall lead funnel and customer journey.

This funnel typically comprises:

  • Awareness
  • Lead capture
  • Prospect stages

To generate leads, your marketing team will often use the inbound model and engage in tactics such as email nurture sequences and targeted social media ads to fill the top of the lead funnel.

This effort brings in MQLs that must be qualified or checked to ensure they align with your ideal customer profile. If they are deemed quality leads, they’ll be pushed through to the next stage, or the top of the sales lead funnel.
