what is the difference between automation labels and lead labels?

I would like to have multiple pipelines for different types of clients. So when setting up automations to immediately create a new deal from a new lead, I need the lead/deal to go into the correct pipeline.

I see that I can set labels both when creating a new lead and when creating a new automation. But these two label areas don't seem to sync. So what is the difference and how should I correctly make the above happen?

Many thanks!

    Different set of labels.

Labels just help you organize items into categories. Items are deals, leads, contacts, projects, automations whatever. Each have a complete separate set of customizable labels.

Automation labels help you organize types of automations. I have a different label for each item they affect so I can see what automations are for deals, contacts, and projects.
