Leads and Contact - will it duplicate on upload?

I have an excel database of leads however some of these are current customers. Is there a way of identifying who the current customers are from the contacts when I upload so it duplicate?

Hi @Lucy M - Great question!

We recommend exporting a list of your Pipedrive contacts including at minimum, the Person ID, Name, and Email. Then, prior to importing the leads database, do a lookup to match existing Person IDs with contacts in your list (e.g. using Email). Then import the data. Pipedrive will update records where a Person ID is included and create new records where there is no person ID.
