Can I automate marking old deals as lost?
Ultimately, I want deals that have been in our pipeline too long to clear out to clear out the clutter.
Is there a way to do this automatically?
I see the rotting feature, but that seems to just alert me that the deal is old.
I'm thinking that if I can automate the deals being marked as lost, we'd ideally be able to reopen it if the customer reengaged.
When I try in automations, it seems like a user action has to trigger the automation.
Am I missing something we could do?

@sarahbrewton , the built-in Pipedrive automation tool, does not have this functionality. However, you can create a filter and have Zapier update the deal.
Step One
Create a Filter within Pipedrive and give it a name that makes sense for your team. "Rotting Deals - Auto Lost"
Step Two
Create a Zap that uses the trigger "Deal Matching Filter." Select the filter that you just created.
Step Three
Than in your zap update the deal to the lost stage.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @sarahbrewton,
Your findings are correct.
A cheaper option is to use Make/Integromat.
You can run a scenario once a day/week to mark all such deals lost.

We already have Zapier, so your instructions worked wonderfully Jared.
Thank you Amit. I'm sure that would have worked as well.

@sarahbrewton I was building another automation the other day and noticed that you can build this automation within Pipedrive. Sorry for not explaining this solution the first time. You still need to create a filter, but then you do this in the Automation Tool.

I have set up the filter and the automation exactly as shown on screen and made the automation active but it is not executing. Any ideas as to why?
I also tried using the Zapier but it says it is not finding the deal.
Many thanks for any answers. (P.S. please be patient as I am a newbie to both Pipedrive and Zapier).

@Andrew Carruthers when making a Zapier with the filter trigger you need to create a "test" deal that matches the filter so that you can build out the zap. Feel free to share screen shots and I am happy to help further.

Thank you, @Jared , but I have found a way to make it find the test deal and complete the Zap. Seems to be working now!
