Email Template Lead

Hi guys, I have been trying to setup a simple automation to send out an email template once a customer enters a pipeline (1 minute delay for testing purposes)

Once through to this section I have selected the following options before progressing. Once I have completed the next stage before I can approve, the "Email Template Lead" shows. There is only one question I have seen on the community support thread which doesnt address a work around or where this field is populated from.

In the email template, I have tried with and without a contact name to see if that helps (as that was the previous threads only solution) this has not helped however.

I have tried contacting support but the chatbot cancels the chat or wont put me through to a human to speak to, so I am hoping for some clarification here.

Thanks 😊

    Hi @Chris Domino NZ

It looks like you may have used a "lead" merge field in your email template accidentally instead of using a "deal" field. The automation is asking which lead you would like to pull data from for the template but I understand you aren't working with leads here and you need deal data to populate.

I would recommend reviewing your email template to make sure you are using "deal" merge fields instead of lead fields! The quickest way to check is by looking at the icon used in the template- The deal Icon looks like a $, whereas the lead icon looks more like a bullseye!

    I hope this helps!

I've tried every permutation of this (it seems) and I still can't get it to work - having the same problem. I added a deal field AND a lead field to a template and the automation "email template lead" still doesn't populate. What am I doing wrong?
