ANSWER TO "EMAIL TEMPLATE PERSON"

Wow. It's been a year and I finally figured this out by accident.

SO.

When you use an email template that has, let's say, only an image… like this. You can use the automation to send an email and the only thing you need to select is whether you want to add tracking or the signature, etc.

But if at the top of that email I used the "insert first name" tool, THEN, it automatically forces you to add the "person" because it needs to pull that first name from the account.

MIND BLOWN.

I also imagine for all those asking about why it's forcing you to add other information like lead details, look to your automated emails, see what you're asking it to include and get rid of any template styles that might force you to go in the wrong direction.
