Email Template Automation - Facing Issues
Hi,
I'm a new user to Pipedrive and this is my first time setting up email automations with you. I've used one of your templates - Email sequences to new leads - however, I've had to change it substantially in order to get the automation running. I have a couple of questions:
1) Lead Labels - I had to remove this from the above template in order to get the automation going. I want to be able to import bulk leads via Excel/Spreadsheet and then label them afterwards, rather than manually adding individual leads and creating a label at the same time. What's the automation process here I need to modify/add in order to get this process running?
2) Email template person - What do I put here? Linked person? or Contact person? Or does it not matter?
I've attached screenshots showing the default template, but as this stands, the automation fails at 3. Send email using template.
Appreciate any advice you have in getting this up and running properly :)

Hello @katecoverme,
We are so excited to have you on board, and we hope you enjoy using Pipedrive.
As you might already know, data added or updated through the Import function does not trigger automations, and in your case, since you are manually updating the label, once the Lead is created, the best option would be to use a Lead Updated trigger with the dynamic condition.
By dynamic, I meant if you use the trigger Lead Updated > Lead Label Contains XYZ; this would mean that any updates that are made to a Lead with the specified label will trigger the automation, leading to the chances that your client will get duplicate emails.
In this instance, the "contains" condition is rather static, and it would be ideal if you could replace it with something like "has changed to". Here is an example automation setup:
The Email template person gives you the opportunity to choose the contact person from whom you would like to fill in the Person/Contact-related merge fields in your email template.
For example, if you have the template set to something like this:
The email template person will determine which contact should be used to fill in these fields. It is best to choose the Linked Person, so automation will fill in such information based on the contact linked to the Lead.
Also, if the lead contact person does not have an email address in their contact, it is likely the automation will fail, and this is the most common cause of failed automations with sending emails.
We hope this helps!
