is it possible to remove the currency code in front of currency fields

when using a Google Sheets templates in conjunction with PD field mapping, when a field has a currency set, the currency code is included when the field populates therefore a calculation with that field causes an error. Even with the field format designated as currency it still remains. Can the currency code be removed?

    It calculates fine within the PD fields but when using the data in a Google Sheet template, calculating functions doesn’t work because of the currency code in front of the figure: A$xx.xx.
