Integrating notes together from Leads and Contacts?
I'm having an issue that is driving me nuts -
I input a Lead and start making notes. If the Lead is also an existing Contact, even if I link the Lead to the Contact, I end up having notes in two different spots, which leads to double/triple Activity prompts filling up.
If I just keep the Activities assigned to the Contact, then the Lead keeps showing the yellow triangle for "no activity".
Is it an issue with my contacts syncing with my email? Or do the notes for the Leads not carryover to the Contact?

Hey, Cody!
Vladimir from Pipedrive management is here to hopefully help
The intended use of Lead section - is to indeed have a prospect person who you do not have enough information about to add then as a contact person.
May I ask first of all - if there any specific reason you need both a lead and a contact person?
If not - perhaps I can suggest converting a lead to a deal https://sharing.pipedrive.com/7gUPFx
Once you have a lead converted - you will have an Activity linked to a deal and a note will be linked to a contact person that you created.
an example: https://sharing.pipedrive.com/1M2DYI
And then there will be no duplicated information.
But thank you for the feedback as well, and, if you still have any issues with Leads or anything else - please do not hesitate to get back to us on support@pipedrive.com
Kind regards,
Vladimir

Vladimir,
Thank you for your response!
Is the only option then to fill Deals tab up with EVERY Contact I email/call? I guess what I'm trying to say is I have Contacts that I haven't turned into a Deal, but store notes and information on, or send emails.
I like the Leads functionality for the organized list of my most recent prospects, but say that Lead never transfers into a Deal - is there no way for the notes/activities I've collected on them to transfer into a Contact?
Thanks!

Hi Cody!
How do you link your leads to your contacts? We have just signed on to Pipedrive and we're still figuring things out One of our issues is exactly what you're talking about - we want to link the leads to contacts without necessarily converting them to a 'deal'..... although I wonder if we are getting hung up on the word 'deal' because all the functionality and all the information we need to link can be linked in the deal tab......hmmmmm....
@Vladimir Dubakin the reason in our case for separating leads and contacts is that they are different... sometimes a lead is just a lead and may never lead anywhere. A contact is someone you know...right? Sometimes contacts provide leads and it would be nice to show that in the lead information - maybe this can be added? Not sure, like I said, still figuring things out

When you make your Lead, if they have a similar name or email to a Contact you've entered, a clickable link that says "review" will pop up next to their name. Then you can link them.
But, yes, what you described is the same trouble I'm having. But if my notes/activities don't carry over, I may be better off inserting everyone as Contacts, scheduling Activities and creating Deals from there and not using the Leads function at all.

Another aspect of it is that when I send an email through Gmail (and I typically do before entering the Lead or Contact into Pipedrive), it automatically syncs that as a Contact in Pipedrive - would that be part of my issue?

Thanks Cody. I went in and saw the "review" link on some of the leads.
Starting from Contacts and not using the leads at all is a discussion we gave had as well.... I initially expected the contacts to automatically populate when leads were added since they have phone numbers and emails? (it made sense in my head at the time). Anyway, it probably makes sense to start in the contacts.... trial and error I suppose.

Yep, I thought the same thing in terms of automatically populate to a Contact due to being able to insert phone numbers and emails on Leads.

I have the same need as Cody and MD. We have a B2C model and feel that lead functions should be tied to contacts. When we have a lead, we want to store the person as a contact so that we can market to them in the future, regardless of whether the lead became a deal or not. We don't want to dispose of the contact info that we paid money to obtain only because they never became a deal. These are all people that may have a need for our services in the future. It would be best to have all notes in one place, even from when they were a lead.

@Christian Ayala @Cody Saveraid @MD Business Development Thank you for the feedback and the patience!
I tested Lead conversion and indeed, if you do not create a deal when converting a lead, but only link a lead to a contact person - Notes or Activities do not get transferred to that contact person.
Which, is, clearly, something that can be useful and will be developed in the future! But, I passed one more feedback to the product manager about that!
And for now indeed, I hope you can either avoid using Leads inbox or always convert your leads to deals to assure activities and notes are parsed to the newly opened Deals.
Thank you for the feedback again, and @Cody Saveraid thank you for the help explaining how to link a lead to a contact!
Have a wonderful day meanwhile,
Kind regards,
Vladimir
