When do you create a deal? (with sales automation)

tough question I have.
My consultant that helps me with sales automation strongly advice to create a deal when the prospect is interested to know more about our solution and not before.
Then prospects status before is managed under a custom field which means no pipedrive reports but a 3rd party integration.
At what stage in your process you do create a deal in Pipedrive?

Exactly my question too.
Is there a ballpark dollar amount when something would be considered a deal?
What if you're selling smaller items or subscriptions?0

It shouldn't be based on a dollar amount.
It should be based on when the person expresses some sort of interest in the product.0
