Newbie (not a sales person!) trying to understand Deals for political action
I am a new user of PipeDrive, and I'm trying to use it -- not for selling exactly -- but for laying the groundwork for a political campaign. This includes asking for donations, emailing a regular newsletter, building relationships, getting people to take actions, etc. I am really struggling to figure out how to map "deals" onto the work that I do! (I've searched through the Academy and knowledge base but can't find a solid explanation of how deals work to understand how to use them.) Can someone here help me better understand how deals work? I am assuming that 'deals' could be used for soliciting donations, but for instance -- if I email my list of 100 people, asking them to donate, is that one deal? Or is it a separate deal for each person on the list? And can deals also be used as a way of tracking other kinds of action my contacts might take? (Like signing a petition, or attending an event, etc.) Or should that be tracked via activities?
Any and all advice and guidance would be really welcome. Thank you!

Hey there @Vanessa Warheit 😀
One of the best things about Pipedrive is how customisable it is.
Perhaps you need to start by creating a Pipeline for Donations and then define stages within the pipeline of how asking for donations will work for you.
If you're actively pitching individuals/companies for donations, each one would be a deal.

Hi @Vanessa Warheit I hope you're well. I totally understand how you're feeling when it comes to using new technology and understanding how your process will fit into the CRM.
At Evolve we might be able to assist you with work flowing your process within Pipedrive and help understand if we can assist with the configuration of it.
In terms of answering your post, a deal would "likely" be any single donation that's made - multiple "donations" = multiple deals - but linked to a single contact.
If you would like I have introduced my colleague @Bruce Bignell who can look to reach out if you would like a chat

Thank you so much, Felicity! This is incredibly helpful. And I hadn't seen that particular article yet (though I'd looked through a lot of others). Yes, the customisable nature of Pipedrive is definitely one of the things I love about it -- it's just that since I'm using it for a different purpose, I'm having a hard time sorting out the best way to organize the data.
Please lmk if you are open to answering further questions -- I have a feeling I'm gonna have more, soon!
Thank you again
