Turn OFF Automatic Email Linking to Deals
We are facing a problem. When some of our users turn on Email Sync, they forget to NOT select automatic email linking to Deals. Then Pipedrive links all their email history to Deals, making incorrect connections, and most concerning-- creating new People and Organizations for these Emails. This is a big problem as it is gumming up our system with incorrect, incomplete data.
Is there a way to turn this setting off so no one can select it?

Hi Josh,
Email sync should not be creating new people or new organizations. Smart BCC does create new contacts if the email does not exist inside Pipedrive already, but it does not look like this is what you're using. It might be coming from contact sync or some integration in your account.

My question/recommendation still stands. We need to be able to turn off the choice of Automatic Email Linking.

Users do have control and can deactivate that feature, as you rightfully said. The reason admins cannot control it for every user is that email sync is the only feature that is completely private in Pipedrive. The feature is set this way to allow our users to have full control over their emails. Note that emails linked to deals will only appear for everyone if the user that received the email marks it as shared too. Otherwise, they will only appear for the user.
For the moment, the only solution here is to remind users not to activate the feature. If any errors do happen, they can always unlink the email from the deal here: https://sharing.pipedrive.com/yeU9VU

AndreiaThank you Andreaia! We will make sure that our Users know to not turn on Automatic linking. But it is still possible that some folks won't make this recommended setting.
Thank you for forwarding this improvement request as we do see it as very important that we are able to control the settings for Email Sync across all of our Users. (Like locking some settings as OFF).
