Locking fields so they can only be edited by Admins
Is it possible to create a custom field that is either just there for reporting or can only be edited by the Admin?
We want to track the source of the data and will be using multiple sources. We will then be able to report where each deal came from and which sources were more profitable. I can create the "source" field and add it to the upload but this field can be edited by all users which could affect the integrity of the data.

Super +1 @Manuel Oliveira @Priit Parmann @Inês Batata I hope this is somewhere on the roadmap
This would allow larger high-volume teams like mine to actually use the insights feature for source reporting. When agents get paid different commissions based on the source we cannot trust a field that anyone can change with no permission control.
So because we can't lock fields, it forces us to maintain a separate database and separate reporting dashboard that we can trust.
This would be a huge upgrade! It would allow users to store more data within the CRM if we know it's safe/clean with a permission lock.
@Stephen Dykes Depending on your bandwidth and technical ability, you can use pipedrive webhooks to listen for deal updates. Then filter to that specific field was changed, if it was changed then change it back to the "previous" data in the same payload and notify that user's manager to tell them to stop changing it or you can include a filter by the user and only let sales managers change the field without automatically reverting it back.0 -

The fact that it's not possible is a big worry for me as it means Pipedrive just isn't scalable. For a couple of users it might be a minor inconvenience but with all data being editable by any user this has huge implications as teams grow, usage evolves and more data is required to be analysed to fine tune. It's not realistic to have to go looking for changes whether inadvertent or intentional0 -
This would be a very helpful feature for us. I currently have to keep a separate report which adds more work and consumes more time than necessary.
