I am trying to export data, but when clicking the three dots on the top right of the screen, it is not an option to export data (which this article - https://support.pipedrive.com/en/article/exporting-data-from-pipedrive - explains how to do). Do I need privileges added to do so?

Hi Dominic! 
If you are a Regular User on the account, then yes, you need extra permission for Exporting. Please check this with your Admin user if the needed Permission Sets are enabled. Set is called: Export data from list views— Users will be able to export data from Pipedrive using the Export data option in any List View.
