In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in automation technology. What’s become abundantly clear to us in that time is that automation can enhance the sales success of any sales team when utilized effectively.

But the usefulness of automation and its ever-evolving abilities still divides experts.

Ryan Stewman, CEO of Hardcore Closer and Founder of Clyxo, believes the ever-advancing technology is poised to take over the industry and render salespeople redundant. He said, “If you work in sales, now is the time to step your game up in a major way. Companies are investing in technology to replace salespeople.”

Mark Paul of the Roosevelt Institute, however, argues the opposite on the subject. He says, Automation has provided far more jobs than it has destroyed. To be sure, technological change has destroyed jobs and occupations, but it has also created far more new jobs.”

Automation is not a static industry. One of the latest advances in automation is the Google Duplex AI, an AI that can hold realistic conversations with humans to perform tasks like book and cancel appointments. While this can take the leg-work out of time-consuming tasks and free a salesperson up for other activities, the technology does arguably miss the ‘human touch’.

Knowing when and when not to automate, and what technology is best for your business, is the key to success.

How has automation already changed your sales processes, and do you believe that ongoing automation advances are beneficial for business?
