Emails created by automation link to closed deals

We work a lot with closed deals. These deals have automations based off different activities including sending emails. I've only just discovered that these emails don't get linked to any deals that aren't set as "Open".

Ideally, these emails should always still be linked to the deal that the automation was triggered from!
