Everything Pipedrive Documents is missing to be a serious proposal / contract esignature tool

I've been using Pipedrive Documents for a few months. It feels like this product is a v1 that was a bit overengineered in dimensions that don't really matter and is missing a few key things and usability in dimensions that matter a great deal. I'm going to focus on the latter, and list my requests in descending order of priority.

  • Give me one screen to see all documents that are out for signature and their statuses. I don't want to be chasing these in the timeline of my deals. For a sales rep that needs to get a contract signed, getting those contracts signed is perhaps the #1 most actionable task that they need to do every day, so this view would be high value.
  • Make the signature request email come from rep. You have my email and can send emails on my behalf, so why do you send email signing notifications from "documents@pipedrive.com"? Everytime I request a signature, I have to send a separate email saying "look for an email from documents@pipedrive.com" with the signature request. This costs us money, one more friction point.
  • Let me change the signatary without having to redo the whole document. It turns out many times a sales rep sends the contract to their contact, only to find out that the signatary is some other person in the organization. Document needs to be redone and this step is burdensome.
  • Allow a templated document to re-read the products or get regenerated. So I send a proposal to a customer. They say "actually we want 3 more licenses" - I cannot simply change the product quantities and regenerate the document. I have to trash the entire document generated by a template and then start from scracth.
  • Auto-upload the signed document as a File to the Deal. So every closed deal has its contract document auto-filed in the right spot. Signed documents are an important artifact. Shouldn't they be stored in Pipedrive?
  • Make the template have predefined placeholders for fillable items. Currently, everytime I create a document for e-signature I have to drag each fillable item field to each corresponding page. Wasting time.
  • Other UX niggles:
    • New document from template x should be a top level option
    • Our templates never have the user making the template be the signatary and they have to be removed automatically
    • Make the e-signature text fields remember if the last one I dragged is mandatory or optional Currently all text fields are mandatory by default and they have to be individually changed, wasting time.

Hope this helps, this product has potential! It's a paid premium add-on or a nudge to buy a higher plan, it should be really really good instead of slightly below average!

    Valid points.

Anybody not keen on waiting for these features to be added should consider the following solutions:

    • Better Proposals: Modern, on-brand proposals that streamline your sales process. Sent, tracked, and signed in minutes.
    • Nusii: Proposal software that both you and your clients will love.
    • Pipefile: Pipefile streamlines the collection of personal, financial, and otherwise sensitive documents to keep your business moving.

Dude - no issues with you linking to other solutions, but don't put referral links on them.

I agree, I'm tired of seeing his links everywhere.
