Import from Spreadsheet: Adding values to multi option fields instead of replacing them

We are regularly doing webinars and sending out postal mailings to our customers and leads. For that, we have custom multi option fields so we can label who took part in an event or received a mailing. The problem is, once I import an Excel list that says, person A received Mailing XY, then the previous value of the field (all other mailings this person ever received ) are being overwritten by this new value. There should be an import function to add values to multi option fields, not just overwrite them. But there is not, am I right?

I think you are correct. It would be necessary to have all the fields in the spreadsheet for import and it would be great if it added to instead for a multi option field.
