Multiple organizations tied to the same person

totally agree and we just tested 10 crm's and most had the multiple organization feature for a contact. We did choose pipedrive because it's well suited to our real estate business. Hopefully, more major improvements will occur for Pipedrive to remain competitively current. CLOSE was a contender but didn't have the ability to automate pipeline, stage associations with predefined activities but had a very cumbersome work around solution that was unacceptable. One I won't mention is well known and was 1980's tech.

I totally agree that this functionality is so important. I think I also created a request last year so perhaps the team could review all the requests for this. As per the comments above, people are connected to more than one organisation and every solution other than Pipedrive does this. I am a member of a networking group, those individuals are linked to multiple organisations and using a custom field with a workaround is no longer a good enough option. The other functionality is great but this one missing one means that I am spending time with other filters and views when don't need to when all I should need to do is click on the related org.

My inbox is blowing up with comments on this topic. Come on Pipedrive, you can do this!

Yes, I've been with Pipedrive for 10 years, and have asked a good number of times. My understanding is that Pipedrive doesn't have a true relational database at its core, but the team should at least be able to apply similar functionality like many of the other CRMs do, without the work-around suggestions they've been giving for a long time now.

I don’t know if the database is a sql database. I do know we had this association of data issue when designing our patent pending AI conversational real estate software and created two separate databases using the join function to relate them together for search and display purposes. It can be done.

Come on Pipedrive, give us a sing of live! Start focussing on this topic instead of introducing features that nobody cares for. Connecting people to multiple organisations is such a basic thing. You have to deliver. We believe in you, let's fix this.

Let's just bump this thread every single day until someone gives us something to work with lol

I agree. Its strange that the PD folks don't address this or even comment.

The ignorance of the development team to this subject is getting really loud now. Why is this subject so difficult for them?

Have any current Pipedrive users utilized any other CRMS (other than Salesforce) and if so what are your thoughts? Pipedrive has some limitations and we're looking for a CRM that can better serve our needs, but not something as complex and expensive as SF. Love to hear your thoughts. Sad that I'm actually asking this question on the Pipedrive community page.

@Monica Pellegrino we're going to be moving to Hubspot when our contract ends with Pipedrive. They added this feature a little while ago after customers started asking for it. By the time we've added the extra modules to Pipedrive it actually works out as more money than the equivalent with Hubspot.
IMO, it's very unlikely this feature will be added to Pipedrive. I raised it a long time ago. They had many threads all asking the same thing, which I cross referenced and then they merged them.
The product person that got back to me then asked me about the feature and was trying to understand what was being asked, which kind of blew my mind as it had been asked for by many people long before me, and it is a really basic CRM feature.
From Pipedrive's perspective, they have a very simple relationship model and therefore cheap to maintain software. Yet they seem able to charge a serious amount of money for it, so they have a great business if they can keep customers who either don't need this feature, or are willing to put up with not having it.

I didn't read the 10 pages of comments, but the fact that a person cannot belong to multiple organizations indeed was the first PipeDrive limitation we spotted, particularly compared to HubSpot from which we had migrated.
We regularly have cases where a person belongs to an company, but is also member of a business association, and we don't feel like choosing which one is this person's "main organization".I tested 25 CRMs before retaining PipeDrive, and a good part of them only allow a single organization per person, starting with SalesForce. And probably because these CRMs data structure was heavily modelled on SalesForce.
Now I can understand a person's multiple organizations relationship may technically complexify a lot of things and give the developers headaches. It could heavily affect the indexing and search performance, the duplicates identification, the algorithm to identify to what company/deal an email relates to without ambiguity, affect the API compatibility, etc…
But still, it makes a ton of sense if PipeDrive aims at reflecting businesses reality without us having to resort on dirty workarounds.2
