Marking leads as lost or not relevant

Hi,

How are users of the Leads functionality processing  leads? What are options to note the quality of leads or to categorize them?

Right now, the only option is to either convert a lead to become a deal, or to archive the lead.

Will there be options to add a reason for archiving, or add statuses for leads as well?

Otherwise it would be quite hard to find out the quality of incoming leads or why leads are not becoming deals.

Hi @Mikk Märtmaa , thank you for your suggestions!

We're still developing Leads to give them a bunch of useful new abilities (stay tuned) and I've made sure to forward your feedback to our team for consideration in the future.

In the meantime, I would suggest using lead labels to mark their quality and mark them as lost when you archive them, as for the time being it's not possible to mark them as lost the same way you do with deals. The same lead can have multiple labels simultaneously, so one can be the source and the other one can be the "lost reason".

Here are some pro tips to stay on top of what's coming:

Is it possible to somehow view all leads with the same label in a list, or export them, until the reports functionality has leads?

@Mikk Märtmaa You can now sort your leads by label or using any other column, but at the moment exporting is not available yet.

In the meantime, if you're comfortable using API, we do have endpoints for Leads that you can use, take a look here. Or you can use one of the analytics integrations from our marketplace; I did a quick search for you, take a look here.

    Thanks for the update!

I will use leads when it's possible to report on them and when then can be sorted as qualified/unqualified.

    No problem @Mikk Märtmaa !

You can already sort your leads: qualified leads are the ones you convert into deals and unqualified leads are the ones you archive or delete; archiving can also be seen as "saving for later".

We're working as we speak to make Leads Reports a reality in Insights, so keep your eyes peeled, see here.

Speaking of which, here's how to stay on top of what’s coming down the line:

Hey there @Inês Batata. Loving Pipedrive, we are deeply integrated for a long time, and love the progress that keeps being made!

But this Lead mismatch with Deal (i.e. the lack of lost reasons and other deal compatibility) is a decent blocker for me to not use leads..
    Is this fixed yet?

Also, if you convert someone from a Deal to a Lead, do you lose all the extra information that is stored on the lead (including custom fields)? And if you convert back, does it stay lost? (is it a "lossy" conversion, like JPG)

BTW, this link from above doesn't work.

    Hi @Craig O,

I wanted to chime in to share some clarification about your question. First of all, we are so thrilled to hear that you love using Pipedrive, it means a lot to us! :)

Our team is constantly working to align deals and leads, and we have some news we expect to share soon.

About your question, when you convert a Deal to a Lead, all information like custom field values, deal value, activities, notes and attached files will remain intact, and this will be accessible on the Lead page as well. When you convert the same Lead back to Deal, all this information will also be carried over back.

There are, however, a couple of exceptions with Labels, and Deal probability will be lost. When converting the Lead back to a Deal, you will also lose the history (information under the Changelog section) of the initial deal, as converting the Lead to a Deal creates a new Deal with all the same information.

Regarding the link, we have moved our announcements to the What's New channel so you can keep an eye out for new updates!
